Some love stories are beautiful because of how they begin. Others are beautiful because of how patiently they're lived.
Mal and Joey's story is one of patience, faith, and choosing each other every single day.
For the past two years, Mal waited while Joey served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During that time, we talked often about the future—the wedding she dreamed of, the life they would build together, and the day she would finally get to marry her best friend. Watching her remain hopeful throughout those two years made this engagement session feel even more meaningful.
Just three weeks after Joey returned home, he asked Mal to marry him.
And of course, she said yes.
We met at Jump Creek in Marsing, Idaho, for their engagement session, and it couldn't have been a more fitting place to celebrate the beginning of this new chapter. The towering canyon walls, winding creek, and warm golden light created the perfect backdrop for a couple whose story has been built on faith, patience, and unwavering love. As we explored the trail together, every corner seemed to offer another beautiful view and another excuse for these two to laugh, hold each other close, and soak in this exciting season of life.
Photographing Mal and Joey was effortless. They have a quiet, comfortable kind of love that doesn't need to be forced. Whether they were walking hand in hand through the canyon, laughing at each other between poses, or simply standing together in the evening light, you could feel just how excited they were to finally be here.
